I’m re-reading Ogilvy On Advertising and wow…
It’s something every single business owner should read once a year.
Here are some quotes:
“Hire people who are better than you are, then leave them to get on with it. Look for people who will aim for the remarkable, who will not settle for the routine.”
“A good advertisement is one which sells the product without drawing attention to itself.”
“The more informative your advertising, the more persuasive it will be.”
“If it doesn’t sell, it isn’t creative.”
That last one hits the hardest — because it’s true.
I know a lot of clients and sub-clients who get too upset over branding, design, and making things look fancy…
Only to see “0” on the new revenue accounts.
You must be willing to test and swing for the fences if you want to make an impact in sales.
